Info Post

Our short national nightmare has resumed. Taylor Swift probably wasn’t going to stay at #1 with “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” forever—download sales have tapered off (as they inevitably do when nearly everyone in the world buys your song in its first week) and radio has been a little slow to catch up, leaving the door open for another single to overtake it as it regathers momentum.

Unfortunately for us, the only song popular enough to take advantage of this right now is Flo Rida’s “Whistle,” the Wild One’s catchy-but-slightly-abhorrent third (!!) chart-topping single. This is week two for “Whistle” on top, as it was the #1 supplanted by Taylor the first time around, which is very disappointing, to say the least. C’mon, guys—we’re not demanding that fun.’s awesome “Some Nights” (#5 this week) get all the way to pole position. Even that new Maroon 5 song (#3) is way better than “Whistle.”

Charts Flo Rida TobyMac

In more amusing news, the #1 album this week belongs to CCM rapper tobyMac, whose Eye on It debuts on top with about 70,000 copies sold. The album is the first CCM chart-topper since the height of Rimesmania, when a collection of LeAnn’s inspirational songs sold enough to beat out the Men in Black soundtrack or whatever. As more and more people steal their music online, perhaps the explicitly God-fearing market is the one to go after these days—is it worth the price of a mortal sin to listen to the guy from DC Talk’s album for free? (From the two songs we’ve heard from it, we’re gonna go with “no.”)
