We already knew that the timeless love between grizzled mountain man Chad Kroeger and his 27-year-old child bride Avril Lavigne was born out of a chance songwriting collaboration on Lavigne’s forthcoming album. Now the 21st century’s greatest love story will soon bear fruit: record executive L.A. Reid, the stern-yet-loving father figure who oversaw the blooming romance between the two Canadian hit-makers, says that the record that brought the pair together will be released by the beginning of 2013.
In an interview with Billboard, Reid confirmed that Lavigne’s unnamed fifth album is inching ever closer to completion:
[Avril] worked with Chad Kroeger, who is now her fiance, and they did a really good record … We’re in the mixing process now and I expect to release it very soon. I’d like to get it out this year, but time seems to be flying. If we don’t, it will be top of the new year.
What will an Avril Lavigne record sound like, powered by love for Chad Kroeger? We’re not sure, but surely hints can be found in her last album, 2009′s “Goodbye Lullaby,” which was produced by Lavigne’s then-husband Deryck Whibley. Listen below, to the sound of Avril in love:
