A very large percentage of Nas’ excellent Life is Good LP is centered around the rapper finding closure over his dissolved marriage to pop star Kelis, with nearly the entire final quarter of the album devoted to songs describing the highs and lows of their relationship. “Bye Baby” is the final kiss-off—though not in that thumb-biting, Kelly Clarkson-ish way that that term usually implies—and it’s appropriate that it gets a music video to match.
In the “Baby” video, Nas starts off kinda wandering around his desolate mansion, finding items (or a lack of items) that remind him of his ex. He signs the divorce papers, but the video ends with him drinking with his boys outside, presumably ready to move on. Life is good, after all.
