Info Post

Cher Lloyd’s got her anti-bullying song, her song about lost love, and now it’s time for her song about friendship!

Lloyd’s “Oath,” a cheerful ditty professing a lifelong allegiance to her best friend, dropped on Z100 Friday morning and, in the process, gave us an illuminating look at Cher Lloyd’s concept of friendship. Let’s see how it matches up with ours:

Best friends, best friends don’t have to pretend

Off to a good start! We agree that your best friends are people you can be yourself with.

You need a hand, and I’m right there right beside you

Again, good! We’d be Cher Lloyd’s friend.

Remember the times-times-times sneaking out the house?

Youthful mischief! We don’t necessarily endorse this, but it seems an integral part of some teens’ friendships.

Laughing so damn hard, crashed your dad’s new car

Yeah, that sounds like—wait, what? Destroying your family’s possessions together (for a laugh!) is a prerequisite for friendship now? No wonder we’re so alone.

All the scars we share

When we hang out with our friends, we play pool, then enjoy a few rounds of some Go Fish and then eat Doritos. What is Cher Lloyd doing with her friends that they have matching scars? Is she a cage-fighter?

I know I call you lazy, and that’s most times

What a mean friend! Cher sounds a little undermine-y.

You are my tuxedo, and I’m your bow tie

Cher Lloyd is either way cooler than us, or she’s absolutely insane.

Listen to the rest of Lloyd’s treatise below:
